A MAN sent threatening messages to his estranged brother in a row over an inheritance.

Thomas Sherlock, 47, made the vile comments to Kevin Sherlock between January and February 2022.

Their grandfather died and unemployed Sherlock discovered that other family members had received cash from a will.

Glasgow Sheriff Court was also told Sherlock discovered Kevin had purchased a house.

Sherlock’s contact became more hostile towards his brother as he continued investigating.

Sherlock sent messages such as: “You thieving, corrupt, lying little dead man.

“You lying thieving c***.

“I wish I could just kick f*** out of you but I won’t get my justice.

“When I get the wills, I will be shoving them up your ginger a***.

“F*** you Kevin, this is war for you scum, this is going to get dirty.”

Police were contacted and Sherlock was arrested where he made admissions about sending the messages when quizzed.

The first offender pleaded guilty on Tuesday to sending messages which were grossly offensive or indecent, obscene or menacing in character.

His lawyer told the court that there was a dispute through the family.

Abby Russell added: “He lost his grandfather a number of years ago but the investigation in relation to the wills in 2020 found that family members had received money.

“He was unsuccessful in locating these wills.

“He contacted his brother but the more he found out family receiving money, the more it angered him.

“Mr Sherlock found out that his brother had bought a house and wanted to get to the bottom of this.

“He accepts sending the messages and has had no contact with his brother.

“This is a one-off and he has simply had enough.”

Sheriff Philip Mackinnon told Sherlock, of the city’s Scotstoun, that this was a “serious matter".

He was fined £380.
