CHILDREN and staff at a primary school near Glasgow are celebrating after receiving a positive inspection report.
The Education Scotland team praised Lennoxtown Primary and Nursery Class in East Dunbartonshire for its “positive, nurturing relationships between children and staff across the school and early years centre”.
The report added: “Children are happy, curious and resourceful in their early years centre. At the primary stages, children have a strong voice through their leadership roles.”
Inspectors also commended the “vision and drive of the headteacher and senior leaders” whom they said worked well together to “address barriers to learning and improve outcomes for children".
Some areas for improvement were identified and discussed with the headteacher and a representative from East Dunbartonshire Council, including a need for teachers to “plan learning and teaching more often together” to help children “use their skills more readily across all their learning and achievements".
Headteacher Rona Coughlan said: “We are delighted with our report and feel it captures our strengths and the unique qualities of our school and centre, our families and our wider community.
"Our children are supported by an amazing team and we are excited to continue on our path of ongoing improvement in order to ensure the best possible experiences for our children and families.”
Councillor Lynda Williamson, convener of East Dunbartonshire Council’s education committee, said: “It was lovely to meet the team behind this great report.
"There was a lovely, welcoming atmosphere and it was clear to see how well everyone works together for the benefit of the young people.”
She added: “The inspectors look thoroughly at all aspects of the school and early years centre and it is very encouraging for the whole school community to see how their hard work and commitment is paying off.
"Well done to everyone at Lennoxtown Primary and Early Years Centre, I know they will build on this positive report for the future.”
