A GLASGOW curry house proved hot stuff as one of the city’s biggest bands gave it a nod during a sell-out gig in Paris.

Franz Ferdinand incorporated the famous frontage of Mother India’s Cafe in Argyle Street into the backdrop of the set on their latest tour, which has been wowing crowds across France and Mexico.

It is not the first time the proud Glaswegians have paid homage to their hometown after unveiling a replica of the famous Barrowlands sign, with the band’s name replacing that of the venue, at a concert at the Electric Castle festival in Romania back in 2017.

Before hitting the big time, frontman Alex Kapranos delivered food for Mother India.

Bosses at the Glasgow institution were delighted by the nod from the gig at Salle Pleyel in the French capital.

Glasgow Times:

They took to Twitter to thank the band, posting: “Our dear friend Alex at the set of his show in Paris. What a compliment, very touched Franz Ferdinand. Have a great show guys.”

The group, who formed back in 2002, enjoyed global success two years later with indie smash Take Me Out. They are self-confessed fans of the food at the Mother India chain, which has been serving celebrities in the city for decades.

It has been feeding curry lovers since 1990 and can boast Billy Connolly and Steven Spielberg as satisfied customers at its other eatery in Glasgow’s Westminster Terrace, which is also a firm favourite of former Rangers and Scotland striker Ally McCoist.
