A FAMILY is paying an emotional tribute to Evan Reid who was sadly found dead in Paisley.
We reported how the 31-year-old Celtic fan went missing on March 25 in the Paisley area after getting off a train from Glasgow to Irvine.
The young dad had boarded the 9.30pm train at Glasgow Central heading to the town but got off in Paisley after texting his partner to say "something dodgy" was happening.
Police then found his body after being spotted near the White Cart River on April 10 at around 9.55am.
Detectives confirmed that there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances after discovering him.
Now his family are fundraising for their local community and charities who worked hard to help find Evan, in honour of his memory.
We previously reported how his devastated family were left “haunted” by his sudden disappearance.
They had been “neglecting” themselves to search for him and vowed not to give up until they had answers.
Now they hope to thank groups who helped them during the difficult time.
Posting on social media they said: “We are raising money in memory of Evan Reid.
"A loving partner, dad, brother, son and friend to so many.
"We would like to raise funds for the following charities and the community centre who were a huge part of our search for Evan.
“Glasgow Humane Society is a charity of volunteers who everyday searched the river on boats to help find Evan.
“Beechwood Community Centre is a community centre who opened its doors to our search and let us use their facilities even on days where the centre was not open.
“They provided us with food, tea, coffee and a place to meet and coordinate our search.
“Specialist Search Dogs is a charity who train specialist dogs to help in missing person scenarios.
“They can search land and water and sent a dog all the way from Wales to help with our search for Evan.
“We would like to thank everyone involved for the help and support given in this time.
“We will be forever grateful to the charities and community for their kindness and generosity in what was the most difficult time in our lives.
“Please donate anything you can here.”
We previously reported how Celtic legend Chris Sutton shared an appeal to find Evan on Twitter after he was asked to raise awareness.
Twitter user Andy Oliver asked the former Celtic striker to retweet the appeal due to having a large following of people from Paisley and Glasgow.
An image of Evan was also displayed to thousands of football fans at Hampden Park on March 28 during the Scotland v Spain Euro 2024 qualifier.
