A schoolgirl has been commended for her entry into a Scotland-wide photography competition.
Daisy Samuel from Mearns Primary School in Newton Mearns was recognised for her photo, named 'Life in 2023', which she entered in The Scottish Civic Trust My Place Photography Competition.
The annual competition encourages young people to use photography to explore the buildings, architecture and archaeology in the places they live.
It is supported by Historic Environment Scotland and Jessops, and the theme for the 2023 competition was My Place, My Space, My Story.
The winning and commended entries were announced on April 24 at The Trades Hall in Glasgow.
Aneel Singh Bhopal, for who a member of the judging panel and the deputy director of the West of Scotland Regional Equality Council, said: “For the third year running I have had the privilege of being part of the judging panel for the My Place Photography Competition.
"As always, the entries were superb.
"The range of creativity and community-focused messaging evoked by the images gave me an immense sense of hope that our young people’s social conscience, sensitivity and artistry will serve us well and make Scotland a better place to live in.
"I strongly encourage all participants to keep up the great work, whether as a profession, hobby or passion and utilise their talents for the common good of all.”
