THE trial of five care workers accused of neglecting patients at a home has been postponed.

Amelia Green, 58, Lesley-Ann Gray, 58, Nigora Hamatova, 38, Catherine Haughey, 59, and Lynne O'Neill, 39, allegedly committed the crimes at Campsie Neurological Centre in Kirkintilloch, East Dunbartonshire.

Court papers state Hamatova, of Shotts, was in charge of an Edward Egan when she dragged him into a shower room and poured shower gel on him while fully clothed.

Haughey, of Kilsyth, faces a separate allegation while in charge of an Edward McBride who is now deceased.

It is claimed she pushed him and his wheelchair into a wall and a door.

Green, of Kilsyth, meantime is accused of damaging a Neil Henderson's clothing including in his presence.

Green, Hamatova, O'Neill, of Glasgow's Carntyne, and Gray, of Bishopbriggs, East Dunbartonshire, face a collective charge of removing Mr Henderson's clothing and shower him against his will.

The allegations span a period between January 2018 and April 2020.

Each charge states the women were "care workers" who "ill-treated or wilfully neglected" the men.

All five appeared in the dock today at Glasgow Sheriff Court for the three-day trial.

Calum Weir, defending Green, made a motion to adjourn the trial.

He said: "There is not a lawyer available today [to represent Green] for the hearing and disclosure is still outstanding."

Prosecutor Ross Canning stated that care plans for the alleged victims are now available for the defence to view.

The trial was adjourned until July by Sheriff Mary Shields.
