A Glasgow family were warned about their "famous" neighbour in a note from the previous tenant.
Craig Brown was welcomed into his new Glasgow home with a letter telling him that “Toby” would be surprised to find him “in his territory”.
The 31-year-old was pleased to find out that Toby was actually a "handsome" cat who would be stopping by expecting plenty of treats and attention.
Craig moved into the Shawlands area last week, from Airdrie, with his new wife Suzie Brown and their adorable dog Conan.
The family were thrilled to receive the “super sweet” note about their special visitor.
The letter said: “There is a handsome boy called Toby that will come to the window.
“I have been letting him in and giving him treats for the past three years, so he is going to be very surprised to see you and a dog in his territory!
“He is quite the celebrity on Facebook! I have left his treats if you want to give him some, if not he will stop coming. Especially seeing a doggy.”
The family then patiently waited by the window until he finally appeared this week to greet his new neighbours.
Craig said: “The letter was super sweet, nice to get lots of helpful info and we're both animal lovers, so it was exciting to hear we'd be getting a visitor.
“It was just the lovely welcome to the neighbourhood that we were hoping for, although I'm not sure the dog agrees.
“When I spoke to the owner, they were quick to let me know that Toby is a well-known and loved neighbourhood figure and gets fed plenty at home.
“We are under clear instructions not to give him any full meals no matter how good a starving orphan act he puts on - it's quite the opposite, but he is of course allowed treats!
“He has only come to the window a couple of times now and I suspect he might not come in while being stared at by Conan, but it is lovely to have him stop by and introduce himself.
“He's a very polite and friendly young man.”
