A pensioner has been killed in a car crash.
The 79-year-old was walking near Glasgow Road in Uddingston on Wednesday morning when he was struck by a car.
A multi-emergency response was called to the scene, and we previously reported that the road was taped off while cops carried out their investigations.
A 28-year-old man has been arrested in connection with alleged road traffic offences and was later released.
A Police Scotland spokesperson: “Police received report of a crash involving a car and a pedestrian on the B7071 Glasgow Road at Belmont Avenue, Uddingston, around 11am on Wednesday, May 17, 2023.
“Emergency services attended, however, the 79-year-old male pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
“A 28-year-old man was arrested in connection with road traffic offences and released pending further enquiries.
“The road was re-opened around 4.20pm and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the crash.”
