A SUSPECT is to stand trial accused of trying to kill a man with a machete.
Gary McGuinness, 29, is alleged to have acted with others in attacking Cameron Woods at a flat in Stock Street, Paisley, last July 30.
It is claimed Mr Woods was punched before being repeatedly struck with the weapon on the head and body.
The attempted murder charge states this was to his severe injury, permanent disfigurement and to the danger of his life.
McGuinness faces a separate accusation of being concerned in the supply of cannabis at the same flat and on the same date.
His lawyers pleaded not guilty on his behalf during a hearing at the High Court in Glasgow today.
Lord Armstrong set a trial due to begin in February 2024.
