A SUPPORT worker has been struck off after he sexually assaulted a woman.
Kevin Kerr attacked the woman at his home in Thornwood in September 2020.
The woman had visited the carer's home out of concern for his welfare when he put his hand between her legs and touched her over her clothes.
As previously reported by the Glasgow Times, Kerr appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court in 2021.
The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) confirmed Kerr was convicted of the offence on March 23 this year.
The regulatory body made the decision to remove Kerr from the register of students, support workers in a housing support service, support workers in care at home service and support workers in a care at home service for adults.
A report said: "Social service workers must not act in a way, inside or outside work, which would call into question their suitability to work in social services.
"You sexually assaulted AA and exposed AA to a risk of distress, emotional, psychological, and physical harm.
"Such behaviour is fundamentally incompatible with working in social services. Your actions call into question your character and suitability to work with vulnerable people.
"As the nature of your conviction raises questions about your character and integrity the SSSC has assessed the risk of repetition as high. While the behaviour which led to the conviction appears to be an isolated incident, the nature of the behaviour is so serious that there are ongoing public protection concerns.
"You have not provided comments to the SSSC in relation to your actions and therefore the SSSC has no evidence of any insight, regret nor apology."
The SSSC was advised by Kerr that he had been charged with the offence at the first possible opportunity, which was a "finding in his favour".
However, the regulatory body said it had no other option but to strike Kerr off the register as the behaviour was at the "most serious end of the scale".
It added: "A warning would not be appropriate as the behaviour is at the higher end of the scale in terms of seriousness. You have not shown insight, regret nor apology.
"In light of this, there is a significant risk to people who use services and others working in the sector. A warning would not adequately address the public interest and public protection concerns.
"A condition would not be appropriate because there are no conditions which could be placed on your registration which would adequately address the concerns arising from your behaviour.
"Your actions were sexually abusive. There has been no insight or reflection by you that would suggest you would be willing to attempt to remedy your behaviour."
