SCOT Squad star Sally Reid has swapped being a cop on telly for playing one of the country’s most famous women on stage.
The actor, who plays PC Sarah Fletcher in the hit comedy show, is starring as Mary Queen of Scots in the last work of the current A Play A Pie and A Pint season.
Keepin’ The Heid, by Rachel Flynn, is a new comedy co-presented with An Tobar and Mull Theatre.
Directed by Ryan Dewar, it sees a cynical millennial magicked into the bedroom of a bawdy and opinionated Mary Queen of Scots on the eve of her execution.
One woman doesn’t want to die, the other can’t bear living and only together can they understand that in every end is a beginning….
Sally, who won Outstanding Performance for Shirley Valentine at this year’s Critics’ Awards for Theatre in Scotland (CATS), appears with theatre star Fiona Wood as the millennial Beth.
Fiona said: “Beth is struggling to come to terms with her mother’s death and who better to guide her through grief than someone who’s facing their own mortality?
“It’s a fun reimagining of history, with lots of laughs - and it also has real heart.”
She adds: “We’ve laughed and even shed a few tears sharing our own experiences of some of the play’s themes.”
Keepin’ The Heid, runs from June 26 to July 1 at Oran Mor before transferring to An Tobar on Mull.
