A PENSIONER offered a teenage girl money to see her naked.
William Davidson, 75, appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court to be sentenced on Wednesday.
He had previously pleaded guilty to directing a sexual verbal communication to an "older child" by offering her cash in exchange to see her naked on September 18, 2022, at a home in Glasgow.
The details of the offence were not read out in court due to the nature of the crime.
The Crown accepted a not-guilty plea of sexually assaulting the girl by touching her bum and leg.
A not-guilty plea for assaulting a boy by seizing him by the arm and neck was also accepted.
Davidson’s solicitor told the court her client was “well aware” custody would be an option.
She added: “I would ask you to step back from that more so for his wife who has an illness.”
Sheriff Patricia Pryce replied: “He did not give her much thought when he committed the offence.”
The solicitor said: “No, he was under the influence which is not an excuse but provides some context.”
It was revealed that Davidson was not a first-time sexual offender.
His lawyer replied: “He’s embarrassed to be here once again. I’ve advised him custody may be at the forefront of your mind.
“He’s been assessed as suitable for all community-based disposals. If you were to step back from custody it would be an alternative and if he was to step one foot out of line, he understands the consequences.

“He would comply with a restriction of liberty order and unpaid work.”
Sheriff Pryce replied: “He’s 75 years old. If I place him on unpaid work, I’m concerned in case he comes back saying he can’t do it.”
The solicitor revealed that “light duties” would be available.
Sheriff Pryce told Davidson: “Your sexual offending goes back to the 1980s.
“At the age of 75, it gives me grave concern that you’re still committing offences such as this and that the victim was a child.
“I find that deeply concerning. You’re a married man. However, I have read the report.”
Davidson was placed under social work supervision for three years.
He was ordered to carry out 270 hours of unpaid work, was tagged, and ordered to stay in his home in Yoker between 7pm-7am for 21 weeks.
He was also banned from having unsupervised contact with children under the age of 16 and will be subject to notification requirements for three years.
The sheriff added: “If you put one foot wrong, I will have no hesitation to send you to custody.”
