Police have issued an update after a person was struck by a train at Saltcoats station on Friday evening.
A 40-year-old man was rushed to hospital after being hit by a train around 6pm on Friday.
He is currently being treated for "significant injuries".
The incident is currently being treated as non-suspicious and non-fatal.
Trains from Glasgow Central to both Ardrossan Harbour and Largs were interrupted until 8.20pm following the incident.
A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: "Officers were called to Saltcoats railway station shortly after 1800 [on Friday, July 7, 2023] in relation to a 40-year-old male being struck by a train.
"The male has survived the incident but has been taken to hospital for significant injuries to be treated. The incident has been classified as Non-Suspicious, Non Fatal."
NEW: Sadly, a person has been struck by a train between Ardrossan South Beach and Kilwinning. No trains are running between Kilwinning, Ardrossan and Largs while the emergency services attend.
