A popular ice cream shop in Renfrew has issued a warning about recent "unacceptable" behaviour by youths.

In a Facebook message posted on Friday, a spokesperson for Sprinkles, in Inchinnan Road, claimed that a number of children had been treating staff with "no respect whatsoever."

"Food and drinks have been thrown over each other, messes left within the shop, swearing and just completely unacceptable behaviour," said the spokesperson.

"This is even more unacceptable as there are families with young children present and these families have complained multiple times about this.

"We have always allowed the teens/kids to come in, take shelter from the rain, have glasses of water and charge their phones, however, we are at our wit's end with the way our staff and other customers have been treated."

It was also claimed that some of the children's bikes were damaging the floor of the shop and obstructing access for elderly and disabled people when left outside the eatery.

Following the warning, staff later confirmed in the comment section of the original Facebook post that there had been a reduction in antisocial behaviour at the shop.

A spokesperson said: "We have spoken to most of the kids today and all have been on their best behaviour so hopefully that's it sorted but we have told them there will be no warnings, straight out, not going to upset any other customers anymore."
