Police have taped off the area between ASDA and the VUE cinema in Hamilton.
Detectives are investigating an assault which happened around 3.50pm today.
Doors at the supermarket giant have been sealed off with an officer guarding the cordon, meanwhile other officers taped off an area near the cinema and RBS Bank.
Police were seen talking to witnesses and probing the incident this evening.
A patrol car was also seen parked outside ASDA while the investigation continues.
The condition of the victim remains unknown.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 3.50pm on Sunday, 16 July, 2023 we were called to a report of an assault in the Palace Grounds Road area of Hamilton.
"Officers are at the scene."
Both the Vue Cinema and ASDA remain open to the public at the time this article was published.
