A volunteer from Glasgow has been given a high honour for his "remarkable" commitment and service.
David Mackay, operational team leader for the British Red Cross, was awarded the British Empire Medal.
Mr Mackay was named in King Charles' honours list this year and received his medal at a ceremony in the City Chambers.
David’s family joined him at the city’s civic headquarters where he was presented with the honour by Deputy Lieutenant of Glasgow, Dr Nina Baker, on behalf of the King and Lord Lieutenant, Jacqueline McLaren.
David was acknowledged to have taken on more responsibility during the Covid pandemic, part of a team who delivered 300 food parcels a day to people who were isolating.
Since then, he has established links with refugee services, helping provide essential items, including clothing and baby packs.
Dr Baker said: "David’s support has helped strengthen the connectedness of refugee support and crisis response, which can only be an asset to addressing future crisis.
“It has been a remarkable and humbling experience to see the passion and commitment to support service users as well as the various teams across the British Red Cross that he demonstrated on a daily basis.”
