A MAN has appeared in court following an incident in Shettleston that led to around 100 people being evacuated from their homes.
Darren Querns made no plea at Hamilton Sheriff Court this afternoon.
The 34-year-old was charged with culpable and reckless conduct to danger to life, assault to injury, behaving in a threatening or abusive manner, stalking, and being in possession of a controlled drug.
Querns was remanded in custody and will appear again in court within the next eight days.
It comes after we reported police were called to Altyre Street shortly after 5pm on Monday, August 7, 2023.
We previously reported that eight police officers took unwell following the alleged discovery of potentially hazardous chemicals.
Detective Inspector Gary Smillie said: “Our enquiries into the incident are ongoing, and there will be a continued police presence in the area. We continue to work closely with our partners.
“I would like to thank local residents for their patience and co-operation while we continue to deal with this incident.”
