TWO people have been left "extremely distressed" after they were threatened in their home by two masked men during a robbery in Greenock.

The incident happened at a property on Fife Road at around 12.05am on Wednesday, August 9. 

Two men broke into the home and threatened the occupants before making off with a three-figure sum of cash.

They are believed to have left in a light-coloured vehicle. 

There were no serious injuries as a result of the incident however police said the victims have been left shaken by the "despicable" crime

An investigation is underway and police are applying for anyone with information to get in touch.

Detective Sergeant Andrew Henderson said: "Fortunately no one was seriously injured however both occupants were left extremely distressed by this despicable crime within their own home.

"Our enquiries to trace these men are ongoing and I am asking anyone who saw anything suspicious or has private CCTV or dash-cam footage that could assist with our investigation to get in touch.

"If you can help please contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0029 of Wednesday, August 9, 2023, or make a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."

The first man is described as being of a slim build and speaking with a local accent. 

He was wearing a black tracksuit with the hood up and a dark face mask. 

The second man is described as being of a slim to medium build and around 5ft 11ins tall. 

He also had a local accent and was wearing a dark tracksuit with a hood up and a mask.
