Councillors have agreed to defer their decision on whether a barn at a farm site in Milngavie can be converted into housing to allow for a site visit.
The proposal concerns Baldernock Barn, a dilapidated building on land near the junction of Baldernock Road and Dowan Road, and involves adding a large extension as well as the conversion for residential use.
East Dunbartonshire Council planning officers recommended refusing the application on the grounds that the proposed amendments to the building were detrimental to the character of the existing building, would result in the loss of its defining features and that the two-storey extension would be dominant within the street scape.
The resulting appeal was presented to the council’s planning local review body, who agreed to carry out a site inspection before reaching their decision at a future meeting.
