A thug on three bail orders is behind bars for a brutal New Year's Day attack on a man.
Michael Kerr, 22, punched, kicked and stabbed Andrew Michie in Glencoats Park in Paisley on January 1 2023.
The 38-year-old victim's injuries included him suffering a nasty 10-inch leg wound.
Kerr on Monday appeared in the dock at the High Court in Glasgow.
He pleaded guilty to assaulting Mr Michie to his severe injury, permanent disfigurement and impairment as well as to the danger of his life.
It emerged Kerr flouted three separate bail orders imposed at Paisley Sheriff Court between January and November 2022.
He was remanded in custody and will be sentenced next month.
The court heard how Kerr and Mr Michie were known to each other.
The victim and a woman were walking in an area of Paisley - locally known as 'The Privies' - when they became aware of Kerr yelling at them from a nearby flat.
Prosecutor BJ Gill said: "There was then an argument and Kerr left the property.
"He was armed with a knife. Mr Michie attempted to leave the area.
"Kerr followed him...he attacked Mr Michie assaulting him repeatedly with kicks and punches on the head and body.
"Kerr repeatedly struck him with the knife. The assault lasted approximately five minutes."
The thug fled the scene before a badly bleeding Mr Michie ended up in hospital.
HIs injuries included the stab wound to his right calf as well as to his chest and face.
The court heard he remains affected by what happened.
Mr Gill: "Mr Michie has to use crutches when the pain is too great."
His attacker Kerr already had a lengthy list of previous convictions for violence, drugs and shoplifting.
Judge Douglas Brown deferred sentencing for reports until next month.
