A popular fashion and homeware store in Renfrew is set to close at the end of this month. 

The Matalan Clearance store in Blythswood Retail Park will trade for the last time on Saturday, September 30.

In a Facebook post, a spokesperson for the store thanked shoppers for their support over the years.

They said: "As many of you may have now heard our Matalan Clearance store here in Renfrew will be closing down. Our last day will be Saturday, September 30.

"We would like to thank you all for your custom over the years and hope to see many of you in store before we close."

A closing down sale is being held, with 50% off the marked price on everything in store.

Many customers shared their reactions to the store's closure on social media.

One said: "That's a real shame. My kids loved grabbing a basket each and filling them like everything costs 1p, it was like supermarket sweep! 

"I hope everyone has a job in place. Such a shame to be losing this shop. We've had many great bargains over the years."

Another wrote: "Great shop and great prices, sad to see it and the staff go."

A third person added: "That's a shame, it was a good store for some great bargains."
