A MAN is accused of flouting a serious crime prevention order by not declaring more than £10,000 in income.

Fergus Smith, 42, is further claimed not to have informed police of his access to a property in Cambuslang.

The charge states Smith was subject to the SCPO at the High Court in Glasgow on May 9, 2019.

One of its terms is said to be that Smith, of the city's Mount Vernon, declared sources of income through employment to police within 48 hours.

This includes the amount of frequency of payments, the source of the cash and full details of the financial institution.

Smith is stated to have failed to have informed officers that he was in receipt of £10,300 in income to his bank account.

The charge spans between June and December 2020 at locations including a garage in Paisley.

A similar charge states that the order told Smith to inform police of residential or business addresses that he owns, leases or occupies.

It is claimed Smith did not alert to officers to his alleged links to a property in Cambuslang.

The charge spans between October 2019 and June 2021.

A third allegation claims that Smith acquired, used and possessed criminal property between October 2019 and December 2021.

The charge states that this was in the form of cash and deposits to Smith's bank account.

He is said to have used the money to make payments, gamble as well as purchase goods and services.

Smith pleaded not guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to the three charges.

A trial has been set for February next year.
