The Met Office has issued a 'danger to life' warning ahead of extreme wind affecting Glasgow later this week.

Weather experts expect Strathclyde and many other parts of the UK to be disrupted by strong winds of up to 60mph in inland areas and 80mph on the coasts.

A warning has been issued coming into effect from 10am on Wednesday, September 27 until 7am on Thursday, September 28.

Their guidance for a yellow warning advises that there is "a small chance of injuries and danger to life from flying debris."

Forecasters said travel could be disrupted in the affected areas, such as ferry crossings, during the high winds, and there could also be some damage to buildings.

They said there is also a slight chance that power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage.
