A MAN has been arrested after allegedly crashing his motor outside a house and fleeing the scene.
It comes after officers were called to Ayr Road in Newton Mearns at around 1pm on Monday, September 25, after a car crashed into a wall outside a house.
It is understood the driver of the vehicle then made off after the accident, however, cops traced him a short time later on Mearns Road.
The 43-year-old man was then arrested in connection with the crash.
According to residents, the area was swarmed by police following the incident.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Around 1pm on Monday, September 25, police received a report of a car having crashed into a wall outside a house in Ayr Road, Newton Mearns, East Renfrewshire.
"The driver of the car made off and was traced a short time later in Mearns Road, Newton Mearns.
"A 43-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are ongoing."
