An Asda worker has told of how she got inked in the hopes of raising as much money as possible for Breast Cancer Awareness.
Maryanne Scott, who works in Clydebank store, got a Tickled Pink tattoo alongside her best friend who was recently given the all-clear after being diagnosed with breast cancer last year.
Ms Scott, who is community champion at Asda Clydebank, is preparing to take on a host of fundraising activities this month – as October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month – including sitting in a bath of pink slime!
It comes as Asda launches its “biggest ever” Tickled Pink campaign which will raise funds for charities Breast Cancer Now and CoppaFeel!
Maryanne said: “We always look forward to the buzz of Tickled Pink launching in store, we have loads of fun activities planned to help raise funds and awareness, including myself sitting in a bath of pink slime.
“I also decided to go one further this year and I got my very own special Tickled Pink tattoo. My best friend came with me to get the same tattoo, as she has recently been given the all-clear after being diagnosed with breast cancer last year so that was lovely.
“We have already raised over £400 in store from sponsorship of my tattoo and are very much looking forward to raising more, and spreading important awareness of breast cancer, encouraging colleagues and customers to get on board with the campaign and ‘check their cans’.”
All of the money raised will go towards supporting new breast cancer treatments, education, and life-changing support.
Asda’s Tickled Pink campaign is now in its 27th year and this year’s range will include over 200 pink products from over 50 suppliers including Diet Coke, Heinz Baked Beans, and Warburtons Toastie Loaf.
