A MAJOR supermarket has been given the green light by council bosses to open a new store in Barrhead.
It comes after Farmfoods has been granted planning permission to open a new store in the former Lidl on Kelburn Street in the town on Tuesday, October 3.
The application, which was originally validated by the local authority on Friday, August 4, was to change the store.
It also said external alterations would be made to the store, including installation of air conditioning and chiller units.
The plans were granted based on several conditions including no construction work should take place outwith the hours of 8am and 7pm Monday to Friday and 8am until 1pm on Saturday, while no work should take place on Sundays.
We previously reported that the retailer closed their store in the town after 30 years last year.
