TWO Scottish eateries have been named among the "Best of the Best" in the UK for fine dining by travel comparison website Tripadvisor.
The prestigious list of 10 restaurants forms part of the company's Travellers' Choice Awards, seeing the best establishments in the world recognised.
The rankings were based on reviews and opinions from Tripadvisor users over a 12-month period with each winner having passed a "rigorous" assessment.
Only 1% of the eight million restaurants and eateries on the website have been awarded this year.
Two Scottish restaurants named among the 'Best of the Best' in the UK
Two Scottish restaurants were named among the 10 best fine dining experiences in the UK by Tripadvisor with one hailing from the nation's capital and another coming from Fife.
The Kitchin in Edinburgh was ranked the third best in the UK (13th globally) with a 4.5/5 rating out of 4375 user reviews.
The eatery has also been awarded one Michelin star and serves a mixture of French and British cuisine.
The Kitchin's Tripadvisor description reads: "The Kitchin presents modern British seasonal cuisine influenced by French cooking techniques and an appreciation of the best quality ingredients available from Scotland's fantastic natural larder."
The Cellar - which also has a Michelin star - in Anstruther, Fife followed closely behind in fifth place with a rating of 5/5 out of 584 reviews.
The eatery's Tripadvsior description says it is a "small unique Scottish Restaurant tucked away just off the main street in Anstruther".
