Part of the Erskine Bridge will be closed for a full weekend as £250,000 improvement works are carried out.
The southbound carriageway will be shut down to traffic for three nights and two full days from Thursday, October 26 until Monday, October 30.
The road connecting from the A82 and slip-road off to the A726 will also be closed.
Transport infrastructure company Amey says the "essential improvements" are needed for the bridge as it welcomes around 10,000 vehicles on the route every day.
In a statement, Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, said: "The total value of the works represents an around £250,000 investment in local infrastructure and will benefit around 10,000 vehicles using this route each day, by improving the condition of the carriageway, maintaining the structure of this key route linking the south-west and north-west of Scotland, and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.
"Completing these maintenance and improvement schemes together will minimise disruption for local residents, businesses and the travelling public.
"Where possible public transport routes are being maintained and providers are being supported to adjust their services with further details available from bus companies and Traveline Scotland.
"The programme of works includes bridge joint replacements, resurfacing and patching of the bridge deck and the southbound off-slip, electrical road crossing works and road markings."
Improvement plans
The works will be carried out as follows:
- The southbound A898 and the southbound off-slip road to the A726 will be closed between 8pm on Thursday, October 26 and 6am on Friday, October 27 2023.
- Then there will be a full weekend closure between 8pm on Friday, October 27 and 6am on Monday October 30.
The signed diversion will operate as follows:
- Motorway traffic will be diverted along the A82 Great Western Road and A739 Crow Road, to turn left onto the A814. From here, traffic will be able to join the M8 at Junction 19 (Anderston).
- The northbound A898 will remain open throughout these works. There will be controlled access across the bridge for emergency service vehicles, however, access between the A898 southbound off-slip road and the A726 will not be maintained.
