A schoolboy was taken to hospital after being knocked down by a motorcycle which fled the scene.

The 15-year-old boy was rushed to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow after the incident happened in Johnstone.

The alarm was raised at around 7.20pm on Thursday, October 5, when police were called to a report of a collision on Cochranemill Road.

Emergency services attended and the pedestrian while the rider of the motorbike made off.

Officers are appealing for anyone with information to come forward as they hunt for the driver.

Sergeant Alasdair Bisset said: “I’m keen to trace members of the public who stopped to help the young male before emergency services attended.

“They may have information which could assist us in tracing the rider of this motorbike.

“I’d also appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw what happened, has dashcam footage or any information which could help with our investigation, to come forward.”
