999 crews have raced to the West End of Glasgow tonight following reports of two people in the River Kelvin.
One person has so far been rescued, while a second remains missing following an incident.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 5.45pm on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, we received a report of concern for two people in the water at the River Kelvin, near Eldon Street, Glasgow.
"A man has been rescued by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and is receiving treatment.
"Emergency services are in attendance and searches for the second person remain ongoing."
A helicopter has been seen hovering in the area, as reported to the Glasgow Times by an eyewitness.
They said: "The police are all here and they reckon someone has jumped or fallen into the river.
"There's a helicopter hovering over Byres Road and Police are looking to find out what the story is."
A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "We were alerted at around 5.42pm on Wednesday, October 11, to an incident at the River Kelvin near to Eldon Street, Glasgow.
"Operations Control mobilised specialist resources to the area and crews are currently still at the scene assisting emergency service partners."
The Scottish Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
