A SOUTHSIDE church faces closure in 2027 as the Church of Scotland goes through a "monumental period of change".
St James' Pollok Parish Church could be sold as the Presbytery of Glasgow reviews the ownership of its buildings due to "fewer resources".
Rev Dr Grant Barclay, Presbytery Clerk of the Presbytery of Glasgow, says while the intention is to 'release' the building, there are no imminent plans to close the church which is located in Meikelrig Crescent.

He said: "The Church is currently going through a monumental period of change as it works out how best to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with fewer resources.
"As such, the Presbytery of Glasgow, along with all others in Scotland, is currently reviewing the ownership of its buildings.
"In the recently approved Presbytery of Glasgow Mission Plan, the intention is that the St James' Pollok Parish Church building would be released some years from now, in 2027.
"However, there are no imminent plans to close St James' Pollok Parish Church."

The St James' Pollok Parish Church building was originally built as Titwood Parish Church between 1893 and 1895 and was located in Glencairn Drive, Pollokshields.
It was dismantled and rebuilt on Meikelrig Crescent in Pollok between 1951 and 1953 and renamed St James'.
It opened its doors at its current site on September 3, 1953.
