Renfrewshire residents have been asked for their views on bus services in their community as part of a wider review of public transport.

People are being encouraged to complete a survey, developed by independent transport consultants, to help the council identify gaps in provision.

A series of drop-in sessions have also been organised in the coming weeks to allow members of the public to share feedback in person.

A council statement said: “We want to know what you think about the bus network in your community and across Renfrewshire.

“Whether you use buses regularly, sometimes or not at all, we’d like to hear from you. We’re looking for your views on how to improve bus provision.

“We’re gathering this information as part of a review we’re carrying out into public transport provision in Renfrewshire.

“It will help us to identify gaps in provision and the barriers to people using public transport so we can consider what we can do to address these.”

The survey, which has been put together by SYSTRA, asks questions about how people travel around Renfrewshire, their experience of using buses and what improvements could be made.

The drop-ins are being held at Erskine Library from 10am to 4pm on Monday, October 30; Lagoon Leisure Centre in Paisley from 1pm to 7.30pm on Tuesday, October 31; Braehead Shopping Centre from 1pm to 7.30pm on Wednesday, November 1; Cargill Hall in Bridge of Weir from 10am to 4pm on Thursday, November 2; and Johnstone Library from 10am to 4pm on Friday, November 3.

Speaking about the review earlier this year, council leader Iain Nicolson said: “We know about the concerns of local residents about the gaps in some of the local public transport provision.

“Many of these services, particularly local bus services, are vital connections for many people to work, leisure and social opportunities.

“This will be an important piece of work in identifying the most effective solutions to improve these connections and looking at ways to fill those gaps with the available powers and funding.

“We should always be looking to make our public transport network better and all options will be on the table to ensure our communities have the best possible access to public transport and in a way that encourages them to use it.”

The survey is open until Friday, November 10 and can be accessed by visiting renfrewshire.gov.uk/article/13576/Renfrewshire-bus-network-review.
