THE Kingston Bridge is set to close overnight to allow essential inspection works to take place. 

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, are undertaking the works on the M8 motorway between Junctions 19 and 20 from Monday, October 30 until Thursday, November 2. 

The inspections will take place from 10pm to 6am each night.

On October 30 and 31, the M8 Junction 20 eastbound on slip from West Street will be closed. 

A diversion will be in place West Street, Kingston Street, Commerce Street, King George V Bridge, Broomielaw, North Street and the M8 Junction 18 eastbound on slip. 

On November 1 and 2, the M8 westbound lanes one, two and three, the West Street off ramp, the Clydeside Expressway eastbound off slip to M8 Junction 19 westbound on slip, the Waterloo Street on ramp to the M8 Westbound, and the Newton Street on ramp to M8 westbound will all be closed.

There will be signed diversions in place.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works. 

The inspection will benefit around 146,390 vehicles using this route each day by completing the Kingston Bridge spandrel wall inspection.
