A man was left needing stiches after being brutally ambushed in a nightclub.

James O'Hara was kicked to the head and body by John O'Donnell, 22, and two others while on the ground at Glasgow's Savoy Nightclub on November 7 2021.

The one-minute attack took place after a dispute over Mr O'Hara being bumped into while going to the bar.

O'Donnell, of Glasgow's Drumchapel, pleaded guilty at to assaulting Mr O'Hara to his severe injury while acting with others.

Former co-accused Louis McBride, 21, and Dylan McBride, 20, had their not guilty pleas accepted by the Crown.

Glasgow Sheriff Court heard Mr O'Hara was at the nightclub with his wife when O'Donnell and two others "bumped into" him.

Mr O'Hara stated: "Watch where you're going."

One of he men with O'Hara replied: "Wit?" and the situation escalated quickly.

Prosecutor Jessica McGowan said: "Mr O'Hara was repeatedly punched on the head and body which caused him to fall to the ground.

"At this point, O'Donnell and two other men repeatedly kicked him on the head and body.

"One of the men has stamped on his head once in the assault which lasted just over one minute."

The three men made off and police were contacted.

Mr O'Hara was taken to hospital where he was found to have suffered bruising to his face and head.

He also sustained a wound to the bottom right of his lip which required five stitches.

Images of O'Donnell were put on social media by the police which led to information of his whereabouts and he was later arrested.

Sentence was deferred until next month pending background reports by Sheriff Barry Divers.
