THERE will be no council-run Christmas light switch-on events in West Dunbartonshire this year, it has been confirmed.
The popular festive events have been scrapped by the local authority as part of its budget-saving options.
Instead, West Dunbartonshire Council (WDC) confirmed it will support any community groups which wish to organise their own independent switch-on events with access to funding to do so.
A WDC spokesperson said: "As part of the budget saving options, the council agreed to end Christmas lights switch-on events in West Dunbartonshire and instead support any community group which wished to organise an independent event to access funding to do so."
