Plans to increase the height of two yet-to-be-built blocks of flats in Renfrew have been rejected by councillors.
Park Lane Group/Sanctuary Scotland asked for the erection of a residential development comprising of 24 flats with associated access, parking, and landscaping at a vacant site off Row Avenue.
A residential development of 18 flats and 39 dwellinghouses for the site had previously been approved, with the flats to be located across a pair of three-storey blocks.
The new proposal asked for an extra storey to be added to each block, which would have led to a net increase of six flats at the site.
However, the latest application was snubbed at the latest meeting of Renfrewshire Council's planning and climate change board after concerns were raised over the additional height of the buildings.
Councillor John Shaw, who represents Renfrew North and Braehead, put forward the amendment to reject the new proposal.
In a Facebook post, he wrote: "I proposed that the additional flats be rejected, as in my opinion the site in question is not suitable for housing, and I was glad to see this amendment carried.
"The developer still has the option of appealing this decision to the Scottish Ministers and the original approval is still in place so there could still be further news on this one."
