There will be no trains between Glasgow and London on Sunday as drivers take strike action.
Aslef union members will go on strike on Sunday forcing Avanti West Coast to cancel all services.
And services on Friday and Monday are also liable to disruption.
Avanti has issued a travel warning as industrial action kicks off in December which could significantly disrupt UK services.
It comes as members of Aslef, the train drivers’ union, are downing tools over a pay dispute.
This means no Avanti West Coast services will operate on Sunday, December 3 while other train companies may be affected between Saturday, December 2 and Friday, December 8.
Services will also be impacted on Saturday, December 2 and Monday, December 4.
Customers who booked tickets before the industrial action was announced on Thursday, November 16 can claim a full, fee-free refund from their point of purchase.
Alternatively, pre-booked tickets for strike days dated between Saturday, December 2 and Friday, December 8 can be used at any time from Friday, December 1 up until Tuesday, December 12.
Aslef has also announced that their members will withdraw from working any overtime between Friday, December 1 and Thursday, December 9.
Mick Whelan, Aslef’s general secretary, said: ‘We are going on strike again not to inconvenience passengers, but to express our disgust at the intransigence of this government, and the bad faith shown by the private companies which employ us.
‘It is clear that the Tory government does not want to resolve this dispute. We haven’t had a meeting with Mark Harper, the Transport Secretary, since December 2022. We haven’t had a meeting with Huw Merriman, the Rail Minister, since January this year. And we haven’t heard from the employers, the private sector train operating companies for whom we work, since April.
Though Avanti West Coast plans to run its normal timetable during this period (changes linked to the strike action notwithstanding), it’s recommended that customers check before they travel, as the overtime ban’s impact will vary from route to route, and journeys across multiple train operators may be affected.
Andy Mellors, Managing Director at Avanti West Coast, said: “At a time when we should be welcoming people back to the railway, it's disappointing once again to be asking our customers not to travel.
“We totally understand their frustration and can only apologise for the disruption to their plans. We’d encourage those able to do so, to take advantage of the ticket easement, and change their day of travel. Alternatively, customers are entitled to a full fee-free refund.”
