PLANS for a new health and social care facility in Renfrewshire have been approved by the council.
It comes after the local Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) revealed a proposal to create a new facility in the Dargavel area was given the green light.
According to the partnership, once up and running the centre will provide additional capacity for existing GP Practices and the HSCP to address the needs of local communities over the coming years.
The new facility has been designed to accommodate projections of future population growth in the area.
Now, the project will enter the next phase of its development with a more comprehensive timeline being developed, which will be refined once technical details and building warrants have been agreed.
However, it is currently projected that construction of the new centre will begin in Spring 2024.
Christine Laverty, Chief Officer of Renfrewshire HSCP said: “This is a welcome milestone for the project.
"It is a positive step towards further developing health and social care services for the area, in line with the increasing local population.
"I would like to thank the community for its input so far and the support they have shown for our proposals.
"We look forward to continuing to engage with them as the scheme progresses.”
