Rangers players “shocked” families after turning up at a Christmas party.
Children were delighted when Ryan Jack and Scott Wright surprised them by showing up to the John O'Byrne Foundation's Christmas jamboree.
The charity helps youngsters who are battling illnesses which leave them in hospital for prolonged periods.
John O’Byrne has dedicated his life to giving the kids joy and respite from their health struggles, and his festive celebrations are looked forward to all year long.
This year they were held at Hamilton Racecourse on Tuesday, December 5 and included a Reindeer petting zoo, iconic Disney guests, Santa Claus and the Grinch.
Speaking about the event, John told the Glasgow Times: “The kids didn’t know the players were going to come along on the day, they were shocked.
“One wee boy just ran up and hugged them as soon as they arrived, it couldn’t have gone any better.
“Ryan and Scott were delighted to come along, they had been looking forward to it for ages.
“A lot of work goes into making the Christmas party special so it is great to see the kids enjoy it so much.”
We previously reported how the John O’Byrne foundation is “feeling the pressure” during the cost of living crisis as bills continue to spike.
The charity was forced to cancel the beloved Christmas party until a kind anonymous donor handed over £5k to save the event.
Now John is thanking everyone for giving up their time or donating to help him make youngsters' dreams come true.
John added: “The Christmas party is important because it lets families relax which they can’t always do.
“They know coming here is safe, we have nurses on standby and it is really accessible.
“Everyone is in a similar position as well so they understand each other which means a lot.
“It isn’t just down to me. I couldn’t do it without everyone's help who give up their time to come along and donate, I am so grateful.”
The charity is thanking popular DJ Zander Nation for also making an appearance at the party along with Michael O’Neill who provided everyone with a free Christmas dinner.
