A DRUMMER with one of Glasgow's most iconic rock bands has donated £10,000 to a homeless charity based in Glasgow.

Paul McManus, who plays with GUN, made the amazing gesture to help the team at Homeless Project Scotland.

The donation was made to support the cause's new winter night shelter, which they secured back in November after years of campaigning.

Homeless Project Scotland today thanked the big-hearted musician for his "amazing" act of kindness.

We previously told how the charity, which was based under the Heilanman's Umbrella on Argyle Street, had been forced to move to the Broomielaw after claims of unrest among nearby traders.

They have since been offered a lifeline by Glasgow businessman Barry Cushley, who says he will rehome the charity for three months in the basement of a building he owns in the city's Glassford Street.

Charity boss Colin McInnes previously said: "We are over the moon, this is what we have been working towards since the very start – creating a safe space for the people who need it most.

“This is 100 per cent going to save lives. It will massively reduce the number of deaths on the streets this winter in Glasgow.

“It means the world to us, Mr Cushley has done something no one else in the city has been willing to, he has turned over an area of a building to us to do whatever we need to do to help people."
