BAKERIES across Glasgow have taken home prizes from the 2024 World Championship Scotch Pie Awards.
Butchers James Pirie & Son, from Blairgowrie, were crowned world champion for their scotch pie at the event on Tuesday, January 16, with TV presenter Carol Smillie handing over the awards.
Peter's Bakery in Kirkintilloch was one of four bakeries who were given the gold award for their version of the popular savoury pie.
Lesley Cameron, Scottish Bakers CEO, said: "With nearly 500 of the best pies on the market entered by 78 of the best butchers, bakers and other pie makers and with each and every entry put to the test by 50 pie professionals who were looking for the ‘best of the best’, the annual winners have now been announced and they should all be very proud."
But it wasn't just for scotch pies that bakers from Glasgow and the surrounding areas were recognised as they took home a number of other awards across several categories.
The winning products were all considered by the judges to be the best of the best when it came to taste, touch, appearance and smell.
