A MUCH-LOVED Old Kilpatrick food bank is closing its doors - as it prepares to move to its new premises.
Old Kilpatrick Food Parcels will leave its home of three years at Station Road on Friday as the good cause begins the transition to the village's Napier Hall.
Founder Maureen Cummings took a ten-year lease of the Napier on October 1 last year and has spent the last few months redeveloping the crumbling old building.
And, as the curtain comes down on the site that really established the charity as a force for good in the area, Maureen explained as one door closes another one opens - literally in this case.
She told the Glasgow Times: "We are sad to be leaving the hub in Station Road, but it’s also exciting to know that we have security for the next 10 years at least to develop our social inclusion activities including our Chatty Cafe.
"Change is a mixture of uncertainty and adventure and we will embrace both with a positive outlook."
During the three years at Station Road, Maureen and her OKFP team have provided food to almost 30,000 people, as well as grown her helpers to almost 40 volunteers and eight employed roles.
They will open the doors to Napier Hall on February 5 at 12noon, as a new era of helping the most vulnerable from the region begins.
Alternative food banks in the area
Whilst OKFP is closed, there are other food banks and warm spaces in the area for people who require it.
