A woman has spoken of how she was "nearly killed" after a tree fell into her garden.

Janette McConnell, 65, had to "dive out the way" after the tree came crashing down.

The ordeal happened between 1.30am and 1.45am this morning in Foxbar in Paisley as Janette was investigating a noise in her back garden.

This led to her dog Bonny escaping and when she went to retrieve her that was when the tree fell, with the resident claiming it nearly landed on her.

Speaking to the Glasgow Times, she said: "The tree just missed me.

"I had to dive out the way and if I was any slower it would have landed on me.

"My neighbours ended up looking out the back as they heard me screaming. 

"I could have been killed if that landed on me or even my house."

The tree which was described as the size of a "multi-story car park"  was a victim to the strong winds caused by Storm Isha. 

It is reported around 70/80mph winds were recorded across the country yesterday, with the worst of the storm hitting the early hours of the morning.

Thankfully, no one was harmed as a result of the tree falling, however, Janette's brand new fence which she had spent thousands on was crushed.

She added: "No one was hurt but it was a story where it could have happened.

"People in three houses are unable to get out of their back garden because of the tree blocking it.

"And my fence was also crushed."
