A MYSTERY bingo player has scooped an amazing £50,000 at a Drumchapel Mecca this month.
The lucky player hit the jackpot on Friday, January 19 when they won the National Bingo Game at the venue at Great Western Retail Park.
The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, is known to be a regular customer at the Drumchapel Mecca who enjoys playing with family and friends.
The fabulous £50k jackpot was triggered when the player matched all the numbers on their ticket and shouted ‘house’ within the first 16 numbers being called.
Gary Fraser, who was the caller on the night, described what happened and how special it was.
He said: “I heard someone claim and realised it was on the 16th number. I knew that meant that they’d won the national jackpot and I started to shake, I was so excited!
"I announced that we had a £50,000 winner in the house and the whole club erupted.
“I’ve worked here for four years and I can honestly say that the atmosphere is always amazing but that has to be the best moment – I love making people happy.”
Gary described the customer as shocked but buzzing and said that the win hadn’t stopped them from coming back every week.
It seems Glaswegians have been enjoying a winning streak at Meccas across the city.
Last year Glasgow was crowned Mecca’s highest winning city both online and in club with Glaswegian players netting a whopping £36.97m between them.
Alistair Steel, general manager at Mecca Bingo Drumchapel, commented on the latest big win: “We’re always thrilled for our winners but the £50k National Bingo Game jackpot is a real cause for celebration!”
