A Glasgow charity will be doubling its free pizza donation at foodbanks and charities thanks to funds from property developers Dandara Living.

The Clutha Trust aims to gift over 3,000 hot, handmade pizzas throughout January, February, and March, to foodbanks, charities, and organisations.

The initiative started during the pandemic when the Clutha Bar & Restaurant, where the Clutha Trust operates, saw a slowdown in business.

Wanting to use their time constructively, the chefs decided to provide hot meals for the locals.

Alan Crossan, the founder of the Clutha Trust and owner of the Clutha Bar, realised the universal appeal of pizzas and kickstarted the initiative.

He said: “January and February are tough months and our pizzas add a bit of cheer and comfort. Charities contact us to book the number of boxed pizzas they require and then pick up when they are ready.

"We’re grateful to Dandara Living for their generosity and hopefully we can reach the 3,000 mark by the end of March.”

Zoe Sharpe, senior development manager at Dandara Living, said: "The Clutha Bar’s pizzas are a firm favourite and it’s another great example of the good work the Trust is carrying out in the community.

"We’re delighted to lend our support."

Dandara Living specialises in the development and operation of 'Build to Rent' apartment buildings.

Their Glasgow Harbour development called 'Granary Quay' will provide 391 new homes.

Another potential development on the way is Anderston Quay which, upon receiving planning permission, will offer around 500 one, two, and three-bedroom homes along with 490 apartments for students, all accompanied by commercial units.

The houses are designed with communal facilities such as a cycle hub, gym, residents lounge, co-working spaces with beautiful views of River Clyde.
