A YOUNG singer shared an emotional duet with his hero on stage in Glasgow recently.
Blair Cunningham, 16, joined West End star John Owen-Jones in a rendition of Bring Him Home from Les Miserables at a packed SEC Armadillo.
It was part of a spectacular 10th anniversary concert by Glasgow's Movies to Musicals, which gives children and young people from all backgrounds the chance to perform in top venues with stars of stage and screen.
Founded by Glasgow Philharmonia conductor Ross Gunning in 2014, Movies to Musicals has produced a string of sell-out shows and recently wowed judges and viewers alike on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent. Around 2000 young people have come through its doors during the last decade.
The recent star-studded show also featured renowned West End and Broadway performers Kerry Ellis, Sabrina Carter, Paul Tabone and Lucy Kay.
Ross said: “It’s crazy we have celebrated a decade of Movies to Musicals already – it has gone by so quickly. I’m really proud of what we have achieved. No-one else does what we do - we are the company putting Scotland at the forefront of musical theatre.”
Blair Cunningham performed with Movies to Musicals last year when the company took their production of Les Miserables to the Edinburgh Fringe.

To be called up on stage to sing the famous hit from the show was a dream come true for the young singer.
Blair said: “For the longest time I have looked up to John. He’s been my idol since I got into this whole musical theatre world and singing with him has been an achievement I’ll never forget. A big thank you to Ross for making this possible, he truly is a dream maker with all the opportunities he has been able to provide.”
John said: “I have been blown away by the level of talent emerging from Scotland, and I have no doubt that these young artists are destined for bigger and better things.
“Performing Bring Him Home with Blair Cunningham in Glasgow on Saturday night was a particular highlight for me and judging by their response, a highlight for the audience too.
“The passion and dedication of the cast that night was inspiring and I can’t wait to see what these incredible performers – especially Blair - achieve in the future.”
Blair’s mum Lynne said: “This was such an incredible experience for Blair – it was such a proud moment for us, we will cherish it.”
