A donation of £25,000 by the Rangers Charity Foundation to the British Heart Foundation Scotland (BHF) will go towards their on-going crucial work in Scotland.

Presented during the weekend's game against Hearts at Ibrox, the funds will support free CPR training through RevivR, the BHF's online tool.

The aim is to make Scotland a nation of lifesavers.

Connal Cochrane, chief executive at the Rangers Charity Foundation, said: "It’s been great to see the Rangers community get behind our partnership with British Heart Foundation Scotland this season."

"50 people die in Scotland every day from heart and circulatory diseases, so the more we can do to encourage supporters to learn CPR and look after their heart health, the more lives we can save."

With a user-friendly approach, RevivR provides quick and easy ways to learn CPR in 15 minutes for free, giving people the skills and confidence they need to save a life.

The tool is available on the foundation's website at www.rangerscharity.org.uk.

Free blood pressure checks were provided by health professionals from Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and University of Glasgow to supporters in the Fan Zone before the game.

Raising awareness of heart health in a country where an estimated 700,000 people are living with heart and circulatory diseases, the event emphasised the relevance of these medical conditions in Scotland.

David McColgan, head of BHF Scotland, said: “We have been so delighted with the support we have received from Rangers Charity Foundation and their fantastic £25K donation will help us continue with our lifesaving research to find a cure for heart and circulatory diseases, which remain some of Scotland's biggest killers.

“We would encourage all Rangers fans to check out the link to our RevivR on-line tool via the Rangers Charity Foundation’s website, so we can create a nation of lifesavers.”

Fans can nominate a Rangers Heart Hero on the Foundation's website.

This recognises someone who has saved a life through CPR, has bravely handled a heart problem or has been a fundraiser or BHF volunteer.

The winner will receive a shirt signed by the First Team squad.

Rangers fans who know of someone who deserves this recognition can nominate them through the Foundation’s website at www.rangerscharity.org.uk or by e-mail to rangerscharity@rangers.co.uk.
