TWO men have been taken to hospital following an alleged serious assault in Glasgow city centre. 

Emergency services were called to Union Street at around 12.20am this morning (March 4) following the incident. 

A 31-year-old man was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with serious injuries. His condition is not known. 

A 22-year-old man was also taken to hospital with injuries.

It is understood he was allegedly 'slashed'. 

A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident. 

Pictures taken this morning show a section of Union Street has been taped off with officers still in attendance this morning.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them.

Detective Inspector Phillip Kennedy said: "Our enquiries into this incident are ongoing.

"There were members of the public in the area at the time, and I would ask that anyone who witnessed the incident, that hasn't already spoken to police, to please come forward.
 
"Anyone with information should contact Stewart Street CID via 101, quoting incident number 0046 of March 4, 2024."
