A CHARITY'S popular annual event will feature a thrilling new addition - a bungee jump.

On Sunday, May 26, Erskine Veterans Charity Bike Meet will take place - where more than 1000 bikers, trikers and riders will take part in a spectacular parade.

But the new bungee jump is for those seeking a challenge and a chance to raise funds for Scotland’s largest veterans charity.

Participants will jump from a 160ft crane within the Erskine Veterans Village - watched by the hundreds of people attending the Bike Meet.

Those interested can register with the Erskine Community Team at community@erskine.org.uk or call 0141 814 4555.

A registration fee of £20 and a pledge that participants will raise in excess of £100 is required.

The charity offers nursing, residential, and dementia care in homes across Scotland and caters to veterans of all ages.

This includes the likes of 98-year-old D-Day veteran Albert Lamond.

Additionally, it supports younger veterans as they embark on new chapters of their lives, offering social, recreation and training facilities at the Erskine Reid Macewen Activity Centre and employment opportunities.

Gordon Stevenson, deputy head of fundraising, said: "We are delighted to be bringing this daring new event to our much loved Bike Meet.

"Our supporters are always up for a challenge and we are sure this is one they will love.

"The funds raised at events such as this are what allows us, as a charity, to continue in our life-changing and inspirational work with veterans across all sectors of our charity. We are grateful for every penny raised."
