TWO Scottish hotels have been among the best to stay at in the UK for under £150 per night.

Introducing the list, The Times said: "Each year our Times Travel experts scour the UK for the very best hotels, visiting hundreds of properties to narrow the selection down to 100 for our annual Best Places to Stay guide.

"This year, more than any other year, price was front and centre in our thinking: where are the exceptional properties that offer real value for money? The answer might surprise you. In a list of 100 top hotels, more than a third will cost you less than £150 a night. They’re spread across all four corners of the country and, while being characterful, welcoming and charming, they won’t cost the earth."

The Ship Inn at Elie in Fife and The Address in Glasgow were named among the best hotels in the UK visitors can stay at for under £150 per night.

Discussing The Ship Inn at Elie, The Times newspaper said the pub has some of the best fish and chips.

They went on: "Decor in all rooms is warm and welcoming, with sensible dark tan carpets well used to sandy boots — the best of the six well-priced rooms is the third-floor Admiral Nelson, which has a rolltop bath, a vintage chaise longue and a wide bay window with sweeping views across the beach to the Bass Rock.

"There are two dining rooms: one downstairs fair hoachin’ with hounds, a second upstairs sans dogs with great sea views, art for sale on the walls and a striking diving gannet mural by the East Neuk artist Hazel Terry."

The Address in Glasgow was equally commended with the title praising the Scottish hotel for its unique rooms.

The publication said: "The Address lives up to its name, dropping you right in the heart of Glasgow. Owing to the building’s quirks, no two rooms are alike, though they are all decked out in a harmony of soothing neutrals and earthy hues, with clean lines framing inviting chaises longues that encourage relaxation.

"North, the in-house restaurant, champions hyperlocal fare, there’s a showstopping cocktail bar and sustainability isn’t just a buzzword here; the whole hotel is powered by 100 per cent renewable energy."

The Address and The Ship Inn at Elie are also beloved by visitors with the two hotels receiving a 4.5/5 and 4/5 respectively on Tripadvisor.
